“Earlier this month, the La Raza Lawyers Association of Santa Cruz County and the NAACP of Santa Cruz County wrote a stinging letter to the Santa Cruz Local Area Formation Commission, also known as LAFCO, regarding its exclusion of minority applicants for its public member and public alternate positions.
Many county residents may not be too familiar with LAFCO, but it is undoubtedly one of the most important commissions in Santa Cruz County; it makes final decisions on critical issues such as land annexation within a city’s boundaries.”
