“Seyd told me about the 500 Years of Chicano History Film and Discussion series sponsored by Mountain View Community College as well as the Oak Cliff Center for Community Studies. And I’m really glad he did.
Dr. Laura Gonzalez is directing this series. The day I met her she was wearing a “NOT Hispanic” t-shirt! She was explaining how the Hispanic label negates our indigenous roots. She went around the classroom asking attendees what they preferred to be called. I wasn’t sure. “Latina,” I said with some trepidation.”
