“Foodies gathered in Mexico City recently to learn more about the Latin American diet, especially as enjoyed by people who have left rural regions and moved to urban areas like South Florida. In fact, the diet may not be good for you.
Given the growing incidence of diabetes, heart disease and obesity among Hispanics in cities, there is a need for more healthful recipes with Latin flavors. The Oldways Preservation Trust, a nonprofit think tank that sponsored the meetings, offered some healthful alternative recipes. “
