“That’s the humbling lesson that Grupo Bimbo of Mexico, Latin America’s biggest food conglomerate, has learned from its long struggle to extend its baking business north of the border. The Mexican company suffered a decadelong earnings drought after coming here in the mid-1990s, including a $40 million loss in 2003 and a loss of almost $30 million last year.”
