Knowledge is Power!

“From Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated. It’s a month dedicated to the accomplishments of remarkable Hispanics and promoting the understanding of the culture to the public. An important part of this celebration includes challenging stereotypes.

Dr. Linda A. Jackson, a professor of psychology at Michigan State University, performed a study using 256 non-Hispanic students as subjects. The study included discussions about the overall perceptions of Hispanics. Her conclusions? The most common traits associated with Hispanics were: uneducated, poor, violent, unattractive and lazy. Here, Inland teens speak up against stereotypes.”
