“Latinos are the fastest growing segment of the population at or near retirement age ”” and also the most ill-prepared for retirement. Hispanics are projected to triple as a share of the retirement age population between now and 2050. And yet in any given year, less than one-quarter of Hispanics participate in an employer-sponsored pension plan, compared with half of the general population. Latino families have much lower levels of retirement saving than other families, even after controlling for income and education.”
