Hispanics’ call for Supreme Court post falls on Bush’s deaf ear
Despite that the National Hispanic Bar Association (HNBA) call to name a Hispanic “with the qualities necessary to occupy the vacant position in the Supreme Court”, today it fell on president George W. Bush’s deaf ear as he tapped Harriet Miers to replace the retiring Justice Sandra Day í“Connor in the United States’ highest court.
The HNBA had also made a call to the Latin communities from the United States to join them in this initiative, as on June 6 it submitted to President Bush a list of eight Hispanic candidates to be named as members of the Supreme Court.
