Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade José Montilla planned a three-city tour of the United States for Spain’s campaign to conquer U.S. markets. But the 50-year-old Spanish official had to scrap a visit to Houston to view Spanish technology in the energy industry after Hurricane Rita tore through.

Montilla will be visiting Houston at a later date, but little else about his trip was left to improvisation. First he went to Washington for meetings last Tuesday with Bush administration officials and then traveled to Miami Wednesday for business meetings and the unveiling of Spain’s new $95-million two-year effort to conquer U.S. markets.
