Carlos Miguel Prieto, that is, the popular Mexican maestro who served as the orchestra’s Hispanic Fellowship conductor for several seasons.

Now associate conductor of the Houston Symphony and music director of orchestras in Huntsville, Ala., and Xalapa, Mexico, Prieto made his welcome return to the Majestic Theatre podium Friday to lead scores by Surinach, Ravel and Schumann.
