Univision, the nation’s leading Spanish-language television network, announced today that it has named Edna Schmidt as the new anchor of the weekend edition of “Noticiero Univision.” She will co-anchor the weekend newscasts with Sergio Urquidi which air at 6:30pmET/5:30pmCT and 11:30pmET/10:30pmCT on Saturdays and Sundays.
A very familiar face on Spanish-language TV, Edna Schmidt was most recently the national news anchor for “Noticias Al Minuto” on TeleFutura, Univision’s sister network. She provided Hispanic viewers with culturally relevant up-to-the-minute news reports since the network’s launch in 2002. She has also regularly appeared as a correspondent and substitute anchor on various Univision news programs including “Ultima Hora” and “Despierta America” and is a regular contributor on the award-winning primetime news magazine “Aqui y Ahora.”
