Knowledge is Power!
Miguel Reyes (left), a former foster youth from Cheyenne, Wyoming, pictured with Ms. Jovita Carranza, Vice President of Air Operations for UPS, at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s annual policy conference in Washington, D.C. on September 12th. Miguel’s story was highlighted as an example of youth in foster care who are able to thrive when they are given appropriate resources and connected to strong, stable adults and families. Latinos are three times more likely than whites to enter the foster care system under the age of one, and given the shortage of Latino foster parents, they are often placed with non-Latino families. Miguel attends flight school and hopes to become a pilot for UPS. (Photo by Gediyon Kifle)
