Stephanie Bribiesca understands why strangers with dark hair and eyes like hers approach to ask questions in Spanish. She only wishes she could help.

“I’m like, ‘No hablo espanol,’” Bribiesca said, drawing out the Spanish words that mean “I don’t speak Spanish” the way an American tourist in Mexico City might.
