Latina Youth Conference designed to inspire girls
Tagged: teen pregnancyAnn Esquibel Redman, of Cheyenne, who has spearheaded planning for the conference since its inception in 2000, said the main goal for the conference is to empower the girls to graduate from high school and make healthy lifestyle choices.
“Hispanics have the lowest graduations rates, and they’re high in teen pregnancy and drug abuse,” she said. “We want to turn those statistics around. We want our teen girls to get an education and make some positive choices when it comes to drugs, alcohol and teen pregnancy.”
