More than one in eight people in the United States are of Hispanic origin, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. And the rich traditions of Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Central and South America are being mined culturally in ad campaigns, major films and a new home book, Latin Chic: Entertaining with Style and Sass (Rayo/HarperCollins Publishers).

The formal manners and sultry climates of these locales add to their mystique and romance, according to local event planner Elizabeth Scokin, whose “Les Caves 21: A Latin Affair” fund-raiser will be held this weekend with the consul general of the Argentine Republic as special guest.
