Knowledge is Power!

Spanish-language talk show hostess Cristina Saralegui was the keynote speaker Friday at the 20th National Hispanic Women’s Conference at the Phoenix Civic Plaza, telling the crowd a leader gives a voice to people “who don’t have a voice.”

Born in Cuba, Saralegui started the talk show in 1989 on the Univision Network against the better judgment of the Latino community. She was told that Latinos don’t air their dirty laundry in public. But after 14 years, 10 Emmys and more than 3,000 shows, they were proven wrong.
