Cheers greet switch to Spanish

With the flick of a switch just before noon Friday, radio station WEXT-FM (104.7) turned from country western music to the first 24-hour-a-day Spanish-language, Mexican-music radio station in Milwaukee.

“En todo Milwaukee es La GranD,” boomed WDDW-FM, as the new station took to the air. Then “La GranD, la más Mexicana” played “El Jefe de Jefes” (The Boss of Bosses) by the band Los Tigres. The song, a well-known Mexican anthem, was greeted with cheers and applause that went up at the Midwest Airlines Center, where the official switchover took place.
