The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) reaffirms its support of eight preeminent Latino jurists for nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. On July 1, 2005, the HNBA issued a press release naming eight current and former Latino judges as highly qualified to serve on the Supreme Court: the Honorable Jose A. Cabranes, the Honorable Julio M. Fuentes, the Honorable Emilio M. Garza, the Honorable Alberto R. Gonzales, the Honorable Victor Marrero, the Honorable Carlos R. Moreno, the Honorable Federico A. Moreno, and the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor. The list was developed after months of work by a non- partisan committee of lawyers drawn from throughout the United States. Included on the list was the Attorney General of the United States Alberto R. Gonzales.
