Uruguayan residents want local consulate

About 60 local Uruguayan residents met at Three Pyramids, Inc., on Day Street Sunday afternoon, in what was billed as a “cabilda abierta,” or open house, so that citizens could discuss the possible arrival of a Uruguayan consulate in the New England area.

Many attendees complained that despite a remarkable growth in the local Uruguayan population over the past decade, the Uruguayan government has not responded by offering them convenient consular services.
