After 2010, voters in DuPage and Will counties could pick up ballots printed in both English and Spanish.
The two counties may be required to run bilingual elections within a decade if their Spanish-speaking populations keep growing and if language-minority protections in the federal Voting Rights Act are re-authorized in 2007.
Kane and Cook are the only Illinois counties required to provide Spanish translations of ballots and election information, but others might not be far behind.
