Black and Latino leaders plan to announce today a new coalition intended to help resolve tensions between the two ethnic groups in Los Angeles, organizers said.

The Rev. Al Sharpton and Christine Chavez, president of the United Farm Workers and granddaughter of UFW founder Cesar Chavez, will announce the formation of “The Latino & African American Leadership Alliance” at an 11 a.m. news conference in South Los Angeles.
