We’ve all seen workers’ eyes glaze over upon hearing words like tax deferral, vesting and maximum contributions. Add in the difficulty of deciphering these options in another language - not to mention the logistics of enrolling in the plans - and it’s easy to see how little of the benefits message might stick.
“It’s no benefit to them if they don’t understand it,” says Christi Fix, benefits manager at grocery chain Piggly Wiggly, which began offering translations of enrollment information from Benefitfocus.com to their Spanish-speaking workers.
