Allen County courts have seen their expenditures for interpreter services rise 160 percent in the past six years. Thankfully, the Indiana Supreme Court awarded the county a $9,500 court interpreter grant in mid-June to aid in delivering foreign language interpreter services this year for the county’s rapidly expanding immigrant populations.
In 2004, the county paid $69,918 for such services; most of the money came from the county general fund.
